Cooking class with Sra. Loradona

This was a fantastic time with my mom and my sisters. Sra. Loradona is the former cook from Spannocchia’s kitchen, she is now retired and just comes back to teach the occasional cooking class for visitors. She doesn’t speak much English, and aside from my sister Amy, we don’t speak much Italian, so we were grateful for some help from a sweet guest services intern who joined our class and translated for us. We had requested a vegetarian menu, and this is what she had us make: tomato & basil crostini, homemeade tagliatele pasta with chanterelles and cream, sformato de zucchini, and for dessert, chocolate “salame” cookies. It was all fun and super delicious, but WOW, the homemade pasta and mushrooms was the knockout punch.
